Arusha Coffee Lodge is one of those places that just works—comfortable, convenient, and a nice way to ease into safari life.
Elewana Arusha Coffee Lodge is a really good option for a first or last night in Tanzania. It’s located just outside Arusha, set within a large coffee estate, which gives it a peaceful and green feel, despite being close to town.
We often suggest it as a starting point before heading out to the Serengeti or Ngorongoro. It’s an easy place to relax after a flight, with spacious rooms, good food, and plenty of space to unwind.
The plantation setting is what makes it stand out a bit more than a standard hotel. Walking through the coffee fields or sitting out in the gardens gives it a more laid-back, almost rural feel, which is a nice contrast before or after time in the bush.
EnquireThe rooms are set out as individual plantation-style houses, spread across the grounds for privacy. They’re large and well appointed, with en-suite bathrooms, comfortable beds, and small seating areas.
Each room has a private veranda overlooking the gardens or coffee fields, which adds to the relaxed feel. It’s not overly modern or flashy, but everything is well maintained and very comfortable, which is exactly what you want for a short stay.
EnquireThis isn’t a safari camp as such, but there are still a few nice activities to ease you into your trip.
Coffee tours are a highlight here, giving you an insight into how the plantation works, from bean to cup. It’s a simple but interesting way to spend a couple of hours.
There’s also a small shopping area on site with local crafts, as well as a spa if you want to relax after travelling. Otherwise, most people just enjoy the space, good food, and slower pace before heading off on safari.
