Lerai Safari Camp is set in a really good location in the Masai Mara, which is one of the main reasons we like it. You’re right in the middle of excellent game viewing ტერიტორი, with plenty of wildlife around throughout the year and easy access to key areas during the migration season.
The camp itself is relatively small and low-key, which helps it feel more personal than some of the larger lodges in the area. It’s not overly luxurious, but it’s comfortable and well looked after, and that’s often exactly what you want after a full day out on safari.
The team here are friendly and welcoming, and the overall experience feels relaxed and easy. It’s a solid choice for those wanting to focus on wildlife, while still having a comfortable base to come back to.
The tents at Lerai Safari Camp are spacious and thoughtfully set out, offering a comfortable place to unwind after a day of game drives. Each tent has an en-suite bathroom with a flushing toilet and hot safari shower.
They’ve kept things quite simple, which we like, but everything is well maintained and practical. Comfortable beds, good linens, and a private outdoor space all add to the experience, without it feeling overdone.
Game drives are the main focus here, and the camp’s location makes a big difference. You’re close to some of the best wildlife areas in the Masai Mara, so you don’t have to travel far to start seeing animals.
Experienced guides will take you out in search of the Big Five, as well as the wide variety of other wildlife the Mara is known for. During the migration season, this area can be particularly rewarding.
Full-day game drives with picnic lunches can be arranged, and hot-air balloon safaris are also available if you’d like to see the Mara from above.
There’s also the option to visit local Masai communities for a cultural experience, and bush meals and sundowners can be organised to break up your time out on safari.
