Lodo Springs is ideal if you’re looking for something a bit more secluded, with excellent service and a strong guiding team.
Loisaba Lodo Springs sits in a quieter part of Loisaba Conservancy, and that’s one of the main reasons we like it. It feels more tucked away than the main camp, with fewer rooms and a more private atmosphere, while still having access to the same great wildlife and activities.
The views from here are a big highlight, looking out across the escarpment and the open landscapes of Laikipia. It’s a peaceful place to come back to after a day out, and the whole camp has a relaxed, unhurried feel.
Wildlife in the conservancy is varied, with good chances of seeing elephant, lion, and plenty of plains game, as well as some of the rarer species that Laikipia is known for. The guiding is strong, and the experience overall feels very well put together without being overly formal.
EnquireThe rooms at Lodo Springs are large, tented suites that have been designed to make the most of the views. Each one is well spaced from the next, so you get a real sense of privacy.
Inside, they’re very comfortable, with proper beds, en-suite bathrooms, and both indoor and outdoor showers. Private decks look out over the landscape, and like the main Loisaba camp, you have the option of “star beds” for sleeping outside under the night sky, which is well worth doing if conditions are right.
EnquireStaying at Lodo Springs gives you access to all the activities within Loisaba Conservancy, which is one of the big draws of this area.
Game drives are excellent, with a good mix of wildlife and large areas to explore without crowds. You can also head out on guided bush walks, which we’d recommend if you want to slow things down and experience the area on foot.
Horse riding and camel trekking are both available, offering a different way to get close to wildlife, and visits to local communities and conservation projects can also be arranged.
Sundowners are a highlight here, often set up in some incredible spots overlooking the escarpment, and bush meals can be organised to make the most of the setting.
