Luxury Tented Camp

Located in Etosha

Understated luxury in a wildlife-rich setting

Onguma Tented Camp is a really nice balance of comfort, style, and strong game viewing.

Overview

Onguma Tented Camp is one we often suggest for those looking for something a bit more intimate around Etosha. It’s a small camp with just a handful of tents, set within the private Onguma Reserve on the park’s eastern boundary.

What we really like here is the atmosphere – it feels relaxed and personal, but still very well done. The main area overlooks a waterhole, so even when you’re in camp there’s a good chance of wildlife passing through.

Being on a private reserve means you have a bit more flexibility with activities, and guides here are consistently strong. You can also head into Etosha National Park for game drives, which gives a nice contrast between the reserve and the park itself.

It’s a great option if you want a more comfortable stay without losing that classic safari feel.

Activities

A good mix of reserve and park experiences

Staying at Onguma Tented Camp gives you access to both the Onguma Reserve and Etosha National Park, which works really well for variety.

Game drives in Etosha focus on the salt pans and waterholes the park is known for, while drives within Onguma feel a bit more exclusive and less crowded. Night drives are also possible in the reserve, which is something you won’t get inside Etosha itself.

There’s also a well-positioned waterhole near camp, so you can spend time watching wildlife come and go without even heading out. Sundowners and relaxed evenings back at camp are all part of the experience.
