Safari House Etosha is a great option for those wanting something a little different in Namibia. Rather than a traditional lodge setup, this is a fully private house set within a wildlife reserve bordering Etosha National Park. For us, that sense of exclusivity really stands out – you have the space entirely to yourselves, with your own guide, vehicle, and team looking after you throughout your stay.
The house overlooks a busy waterhole, so even when you're not out on a drive, there’s often plenty to see from camp. Game drives into Etosha National Park are easily arranged, but we also really like the experience on the private reserve itself, where you can explore at your own pace without the crowds.
The overall experience feels relaxed and very personal. Days are tailored around you, whether that’s heading out early for wildlife, taking it slow with a long lunch, or spending the afternoon watching animals come and go at the waterhole.
Safari House Etosha has just a handful of en-suite rooms, making it perfect for families or small groups travelling together. The design is simple and comfortable, with a focus on space and practicality rather than anything overly elaborate.
Each room opens out դեպի the surrounding bush, and the main living areas – including a large veranda and pool – are designed for relaxing between activities. Having the whole house to yourselves makes a big difference here, especially for groups wanting a more flexible and private stay.
Staying at Safari House Etosha gives you a lot of flexibility when it comes to activities. Game drives into Etosha National Park are a highlight, particularly for spotting elephants, lions, and the park’s famous salt pans.
On the private reserve, you can also enjoy more relaxed and uncrowded game drives, often without seeing other vehicles. Guided walks can be arranged, which we always recommend for a different perspective of the landscape.
Back at the house, a lot of the experience is simply enjoying the setting – whether that’s watching wildlife at the waterhole, having a long lunch on the veranda, or ending the day with a sundowner as the light fades over the bush.
