Why visit Kenya Coast?

Watamu Beach

Located on Kenya’s Indian Ocean coast, the blinding-white beaches of Watamu sit within a world-class marine park, where coral reefs provide a home for 500 species of tropical fish, sea turtles and other creatures of the deep. Naturally, snorkelling and diving is at the top of the list, with scenes below the surface rivalling those above.

Diani Beach

Just south of bustling Mombasa lies Diani Beach —a stretch of postcard-perfect sands. Shed your safari khakis for laid-back luxury at boutique hotels and chic retreats. By day, dive into turquoise seas for kitesurfing and snorkeling. As the sun sets, savor colorful cocktails at fabulous restaurants and bars, rounding off an ideal coastal escape.

Lamu Island

Located on Kenya's northern coast, Lamu Island seamlessly blends the charm of an African beach haven with rich Swahili heritage. Covered in ninth-century ruins, sandy beaches, and boho boutique hotels, Lamu is one of the Indian Ocean’s best-kept secrets.

Water Sports

The Kenya Coast is a haven for water enthusiasts, offering diverse activities such as snorkeling, scuba diving, kitesurfing, deep-sea fishing, jet skiing, paddleboarding, kayaking, sailing, boat tours, and seasonal whale watching. The best time to visit Kenya for a beach holiday is from October to March, as these months offer the perfect conditions for diving and snorkelling. The country is at its wettest and hottest during the mid-March to late May rainy season – we’d recommend avoiding Kenya’s coast at this time. For a more detailed month-to-month overview of Kenya’s coast, read our blog here.
