The Ngorongoro Conservation Area in northern Tanzania is a UNESCO World Heritage Site renowned for its rich wildlife, including lions, elephants, giraffes, and more. The Ngorongoro Crater itself, covering 30,000 hectares, is home to around 25,000 large animals, making it one of Africa’s New Seven Natural Wonders!
The Ngorongoro Crater is home to an incredible array of wildlife, including the Big Five—lion, elephant, buffalo, leopard, and rhinoceros. With over 30,000 animals residing in the crater, visitors have unparalleled opportunities for close encounters and outstanding game viewing throughout the year.
As the world's largest inactive volcanic caldera, the Ngorongoro Crater showcases stunning geological formations and diverse ecosystems. The surrounding Ngorongoro Highlands are dotted with other volcanic features, such as Mount Oldonyo Lengai and the remnants of ancient volcanoes, enhancing the region's dramatic landscapes.
As a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Ngorongoro Crater is protected by strict conservation measures that aim to preserve its natural beauty and ecological balance.
