An unhurried journey through the wild, the highlands, and the coast.

This Slow Safari offers a beautifully unhurried way to experience Kenya, with seven nights in each of three unique destinations — and one free night at each. Begin your journey at Ololo Safari Lodge, set on the edge of Nairobi National Park, where wildlife and comfort meet seamlessly. Continue to the peaceful highlands of Olepangi Farm, a place to slow down, explore the landscape, and soak in the charm of farm life. While safaris aren’t included at Olepangi, they can be arranged separately depending on your interests and pace. Finish with a week at the coast, where the rhythm of the Indian Ocean invites you to truly unwind. It’s a journey designed for depth, connection, and restoration.

Stage 1

Nairobi

7 Nights

Crossing the Ololo footbridge is the beginning of a unique, once in a life time experience with all of us at Ololo.

7

Nights

You can choose to do as many, or as little, of the adventures we have on offer. Enjoy morning and afternoon game drives, visit the nearby baby elephant orphanage, or simply relax around the pool with a sundowner and bitings. Guests also enjoy a guided tour of our organic farm, that produces most of the food for your plate!

We can take you on game drives into the only national park in the world on the edge of a capital city. Nairobi National Park is a surprise package and many of these birds and animals are visible from our terrace and restaurant as they move around the bush. Ololo also takes guests to visit the renowned Sheldrick’s Elephant Orphanage without having to exit the national park.

You are invited to take part on an excursion to Karen to visit the famed Karen Blixen Museum, the Giraffe Centre or Kazuri Beads. Or more to your inclination some shopping at local markets and boutique stores can be arranged. Anselm Hot Glass Studio and Kitengela Glass is a walk away across the neighboring farms to Ololo, with one of our Askari guides.

Ololo to Laikipia Road Trip

5 hrs

Stage 2

Laikipia

7 Nights

A Patchwork of pretty reserves where conservation and communities are just as important as safaris.

7

Nights

At the far end of the eastern escarpment of the Great Rift Valley, in the shadow of snow-capped Mt Kenya and stretching over an area the size of Wales (but probably prettier), is the Laikipia Plateau. Laikipia isn’t actually one reserve but a patchwork of private ranches, conservancies and farms covering arid plains, tangled grassy thickets and pulsing rivers. Not only does the area boast some of the highest wildlife densities in the country, including endangered species, but it’s also a beacon for ground-breaking conservation projects. Combine this with some stunning private houses and camps and Laikipia is hard to beat.

The greatest conservation success of the region remains with the black rhino, almost half of Kenya's entire population can be found in this area. Laikipia is a real up-and-comer on the African safari circuit, with an impressive diversity of unique species, not to mention home to the famous Big 5. Encounter elephants, big cats (often collared for research purposes), buffalo, Grevy's zebra, numerous antelope and more recently, an increasing wild dog population. Laikipia consist of a mix of high altitude grassland, dotted with rocky outcrops, low lying bush and patches of riverine forest.

Stage 3

Lamu, Kenyan Coast

7 Nights

The Kenyan Coast is very laid back, the perfect place to relax after days on safari

7

Nights

Lamu was one of the first places we visited on our first trip to Kenya in 2007, and we've been going back ever since.

Lamu, a UNESCO World Heritage Site off Kenya’s northern coast, is a captivating blend of Swahili culture, rich history, and stunning coastal beauty. Known for its narrow winding streets, centuries-old architecture, and vibrant markets, Lamu feels like a step back in time. Visitors can explore historic sites like Lamu Fort and the Riyadha Mosque, sail on traditional dhows, or simply relax on pristine beaches. With its laid-back atmosphere and timeless charm, Lamu offers an authentic and serene escape from the modern world.
