Sports Achievements
Our young athletes made strides this quarter! At the Kabeberi 7s Rugby Tournament, the Ololo Foundation’s U13 and U15 teams represented Oloosrikon and OleKasasi Hubs. The U13 girls’ team emerged as second runners-up, while the U15 girls secured third place, showcasing remarkable teamwork and sportsmanship.
Additionally, we hosted a joint rugby program at Nazarene University, bringing together young players from multiple hubs, promoting teamwork and strengthening community ties. Our rugby program continues to expand with the recent launch at Naramat School, providing students with opportunities to develop new skills, learn teamwork, and engage in conservation education.
Conservation Programs
This quarter, our conservation efforts continued with weekly sessions focused on regenerative farming at Olekasasi, Oloosirkon, and Naramat schools. We introduced children to sustainable practices like composting, tree planting, and animal care, aiming to instill environmental stewardship and resilience.
The Farm Kids Program has now empowered over 150 children with hands-on farming skills. During the school holidays, a three-day camp at Ololo provided participants with memorable experiences, including game drives and a hands-on glass workshop at Kitengela, broadening their horizons and sparking interest in environmental careers.Â
Arts, Crafts & Culture
Our arts program introduced students to glass etching and engraving this quarter, promoting eco-friendly practices by repurposing glass bottles. Each week, learners from Oloosirkon Primary School engage in creative sessions, transforming materials through the 4Rs (Recycle, Reduce, Reuse, Repair), developing both artistic skills and a sense of sustainability. Since the program’s inception, over 120 children have participated, fostering creativity and building valuable skills.
Holiday Programs and Mentorship
The holiday Farm Kids Program continues to be a favorite, combining conservation lessons, photography, and game drives. We also had inspiring visits from generous supporters. The Yote Family and TSS Group from Australia brought gifts, sports equipment, and stationery, encouraging our young learners in both sports and arts.
Through a partnership with Helping Hearts Foundation and Coptic Mission Hospital, we held a drug and substance abuse awareness session at Oloosirkon Primary School. This session provided important insights for students, helping them understand the impact of such behaviors on their future goals.
Scholarship ProgramÂ
Our scholarship initiative continues to grow, with 11 student-athletes receiving support to pursue their education while developing their sports skills. This quarter, the Ololo Impact Team conducted home visits to strengthen connections with families, assess individual needs, and ensure our programs are effectively supporting each student’s growth and success.
