The iconic wildlife (think big cats, buffalo, elephant, giraffe, zebra and the famous river crossings of the Great Migration from July to September) is matched by some of the most beautiful scenery in Africa – and there’s a lengthy list of activities to help you discover it all.
Morning and afternoon game drives are the bread and butter of a Masai Mara safari, and all-day expeditions are common especially during the Great Migration. There’s usually a bush breakfast under a shady tree or a mobile sundowner bar to complete the experience too. Specific to the private Mara Conservancies are walking safaris and night drives, both allowing you to get to grips with the landscape in different ways. In specific locations, early-morning hot air balloon flights are possible – definitely worth booking in advance – as are horseback safaris for varying capabilities. Finally, many camps have partnerships with local Maasai communities for a chance to join them in their daily life.
Enkewa Camp is one of our favourites in the Masai Mara, if not the whole of Kenya. It's a small, owner run camp of about 9 tents, in it very own secluded location close to Sand River and the border with Tanzania. This means that you can often go on safari without seeing another vehicle for hours, which is quite special for such a famous national park.

The Serengeti is a vast and iconic wildlife reserve in Tanzania, known for its sweeping plains and the annual Great Migration of millions of wildebeest and zebras. This UNESCO World Heritage Site offers unparalleled opportunities to witness predators like lions and cheetahs in action, set against a backdrop of stunning natural beauty.
In the Serengeti, guests can enjoy thrilling game drives, particularly during the Great Migration, where wildebeest and zebras cross the plains and rivers teeming with crocodiles. Sunrise hot air balloon safaris offer stunning aerial views, while guided walking safaris provide a closer connection to the landscape. Visitors can also explore Maasai culture by visiting local villages, adding a rich cultural experience to their safari adventure.
A proudly female run camp, Dunia sits perfectly within the central Serengeti, allowing guests to experience incredible wildlife moments without venturing too far. Positioned along the great migration route and surrounded by sweeping savannahs, it’s a prime spot for both year-round wildlife viewing and witnessing the spectacle of the migration.
