Learn moreThe King of the Kenyan safari, the Masai Mara is bucket-list travel down to a tee.
The iconic wildlife (think big cats, buffalo, elephant, giraffe, zebra and the famous river crossings of the Great Migration from July to September) is matched by some of the most beautiful scenery in Africa – and there’s a lengthy list of activities to help you discover it all.
Morning and afternoon game drives are the bread and butter of a Masai Mara safari, and all-day expeditions are common especially during the Great Migration. There’s usually a bush breakfast under a shady tree or a mobile sundowner bar to complete the experience too. Specific to the private Mara Conservancies are walking safaris and night drives, both allowing you to get to grips with the landscape in different ways. In specific locations, early-morning hot air balloon flights are possible – definitely worth booking in advance – as are horseback safaris for varying capabilities. Finally, many camps have partnerships with local Maasai communities for a chance to join them in their daily life.
Enkewa Camp is one of our favourites in the Masai Mara, if not the whole of Kenya. It's a small, owner run camp of about 9 tents, in it very own secluded location close to Sand River and the border with Tanzania. This means that you can often go on safari without seeing another vehicle for hours, which is quite special for such a famous national park.

Entim Camp is for the adventurer who wants to get right up close to all the wildlife action. All the luxury tents overlook the Mara River, one of the most dramatic stops on the Great Migration’s annual pilgrimage.
There are 12 tent suites, including two that are private-winged, which cater for 24 guests in total. The tent suites, masterfully elevated to ensure the perfect vantage point, overlook the magnificent Mara river. It provides the chance to peaceably view a conglomerate of animals, from the skittish warthog to the proud African elephant.
The Mara river is a life-giving source that attracts phenomenal sightings—one of which is a dramatic display of wildebeest migrating over this prime crossing point. As you closely witness the confrontation of predator and prey or, quite simply, nature running its unique course, Entim main camp’s tent lodging becomes a wildlife drama like no other.
