Kenya is where safari began — and Basecamp Wilderness brings together the romance of those early exploration days with a modern commitment to responsible tourism.
A truly unique experience in Kenya’s famous Naboisho Conservancy
Basecamp Wilderness is one of those rare places that makes you feel like you’ve stepped back in time to the early days of safari, but with just the right touch of comfort. Tucked away in the quiet of Saddle Valley in the Naboisho Conservancy, the camp is small, simple and wonderfully peaceful, with wildlife right on your doorstep.

There are only seven tents here, so it feels intimate and close to nature. Each tent looks out across the valley, with canvas walls, soft beds, crisp linen and a little veranda where you can sit and watch the sunrise or listen to the sounds of the bush. The bathrooms are traditional safari style, with eco-toilets and bucket showers (heated on request). There’s also a family tent for those travelling together, with two bedrooms and a shared deck where you can relax and take in the view.

Staying here gives you a real sense of space and solitude. You’ll head out on game drives by day and by night, walk with guides through the conservancy, or stop for a sundowner as the sky turns gold. And because the camp sits in the community-owned Naboisho Conservancy, your visit helps protect wildlife and supports the local Maasai families who call this land home.
