We designed this itinerary for guests looking to experience Namibia in a more personal and guided way. It combines wildlife, vast desert landscapes, and meaningful conservation experiences, all led by some of the best guides in the country.
Perfect for couples and small groups, this journey can be adapted to suit your travel style.
A private reserve bordering Etosha National Park, offering excellent wildlife viewing in a quieter and more exclusive setting.
We really like starting in Etosha Heights. It gives you access to great wildlife viewing, but in a more private setting compared to the main national park. The landscapes are open and dramatic, and it feels like a proper introduction to Namibia.
Spend your time on guided game drives across the reserve, where you can see elephants, lions, and rhino. You can also enjoy night drives and visit floodlit waterholes, which can be very active after dark. It’s a relaxed but rewarding start, with a strong focus on both wildlife and conservation.
Safari House Etosha is a great choice for families or small groups looking for a private safari experience in Namibia. With its own guide, vehicle, and exclusive setting on a reserve bordering Etosha National Park, it offers a relaxed and flexible way to explore this unique part of the country.
Learn moreA rugged and remote region known for its desert-adapted wildlife, dramatic scenery, and conservation efforts.
Damaraland is one of the most striking parts of Namibia, and quite different from a traditional safari setting. Wide open landscapes, dry riverbeds, and rocky hills define the area, and wildlife here has adapted to survive in these harsher conditions.
This is where the experience becomes a bit more exploratory. With your guide, you’ll track desert-adapted elephants and search for black rhino, often following tracks and signs rather than simply driving to sightings. It feels much more hands-on and rewarding.
One of the highlights here is spending time with local conservation teams, including rhino tracking experiences supported by Save The Rhino Trust. It gives a deeper understanding of how these landscapes are protected and the work being done to support wildlife and local communities.
Camp Doros is a great choice for those wanting to experience a quieter, more remote side of Namibia. Set in the wild landscapes of Damaraland, it offers a simple but very authentic safari focused on guiding, exploration, and getting away from the crowds.
Learn moreA coastal town where the desert meets the Atlantic, offering a change of pace and a wide range of activities.
After the remoteness of Damaraland, Swakopmund offers a bit of contrast. It’s a relaxed coastal town with a mix of desert and ocean, and a good place to pause during the journey.
There’s plenty to do here if you’d like to stay active, or you can simply enjoy the slower pace, good food, and cooler coastal air.
Activities range from exploring the surrounding dunes and coast to optional boat trips or scenic excursions. We often recommend keeping this part flexible, depending on how you’re feeling at this stage of the trip.
Desert Breeze is a comfortable and well-located stop just outside Swakopmund, suited for breaking up a Namibia itinerary. With peaceful desert views and easy access to both the coast and local activities, it’s a simple but very enjoyable place to stay for a couple of nights.
Learn moreHome to some of the world’s highest sand dunes, this is one of Namibia’s most iconic and visually striking landscapes.
Ending the safari in the Namib Desert works really well. The landscapes here are vast and calm with towering dunes, open plains, and incredible light throughout the day.
Staying within a private conservancy adds another layer to the experience, with fewer people and a strong focus on conservation and land restoration. It’s a place where you can really slow down and take it all in.
Climbing the dunes at Sossusvlei is a highlight, especially early in the morning before the heat builds. Back at camp, guided walks, nature drives, and time spent simply enjoying the surroundings are all part of the experience.
Evenings are often spent under incredibly clear skies – this is one of the best places for stargazing, and a fitting way to end the journey.
Camp Sossus redefines immersive desert exploration with privacy, comfort and flexibility. Open year-round, the camp has just six spacious tented rooms featuring open-air bathrooms, star beds, and thoughtful touches like solar lighting and shaded patios. Designed to blend into the Namib Desert landscape, it offers an intimate, experiential alternative to larger lodges in the Sossusvlei area.
